
Lee Seung Gi (Korean: 이승기, Hanja: 李昇基), born on January 13, 1987, is a K-pop singer. He debuted at the age of 17 on June 18, 2004 when he was still a high school student. "Because You're My Girl", his debut single, was a very popular ballad and created a "liking older women" syndrome in South Korea. In the 2004 MBC Music Awards, he won the "Best New Artist" award. He also won the award for "Best Male Artist" in the 2005 MKMF Awards with his song "White lie" from his 4th album Story of Separation. Lee Seung Gi was a regular guest on SBS's X-Man. After the show ended he debuted as an actor on the daily drama The Infamous Chill Sisters (소문난 칠공주) and appeared on various variety shows. He is now a permanent member on KBS's 1 Night, 2 Days show, part of the network's Happy Sunday lineup, debuting on the November 11th episode. Because of this, he was forced to turn down a role in SBS's historical drama Iljimae. He has been cast as the main character of the Korean drama "Shining Inheritance" with the starring korean actress Han Hyo Joo and Moon Chae Won, which will begin to air in April 2009. He plays the role of Sun Woo Hwan, the spoiled grandson of a CEO who eventually matures with the help of Go Eun Sung (Han Hyo Joo) The drama ends July 26th with its 28th episode after two extensions. Although busy with his entertainment work, he was able to graduate from Dongguk University within 4 years, obtaining his degree on February 20, 2009. He also received a special scholarship from the school.
